Why do you still fail to lose weight despite many attempts? Many people assume that all they need to do is restrict calories or eat only one meal a day and the weight will start to fall off. In reality, it is not that simple at all. Yes, calorie restriction is of great importance for weight loss, but no less important is what kind of meal it is. Here's a list of ingredients that should disappear from your daily menu.
What not to eat to lose weight? Here are the biggest enemies of weight loss:
Fast food and ready meals
About the fact that fast food is unhealthy, everyone probably knows. However, this does not change the fact that masses of people eat in just such a way. These do not necessarily have to be the only meals consumed during the day, but it is enough to reach for such ready-made food from a popular fast food chain a few times a week, and the whole diet goes to waste. Fast food is tempting because it is quickly available, and many people appreciate the taste of such food, but unfortunately, in fast food you look in vain for valuable ingredients, instead there are plenty of so-called empty calories.
Fast food is dangerous because it is highly processed, which means it has little in the way of vitamins and fiber. And without these ingredients, it's impossible to get off excess weight. And it doesn't matter whether it's a hamburger or a salad, because there are harmful ingredients in every ready-made dish, besides, there is not always certainty about the freshness and quality of the products used. The same principle also applies to meals from bags or ready meals to be heated in the microwave - there are a lot of flavor enhancers and preservatives in them, which kill nutritional value and increase calories a lot.
The truth is that only home-made food can be truly dietary, because you know what the dish is made of and there is no need to add toxic substitutes to it. And their preparation does not have to take a lot of time at all, you can find dozens of recipes for quick, valuable weight loss meals on the Internet. Glucose-fructose syrup
It is an ingredient that finds its way into many finished products. It is not only in candy, but also in many yogurts, cheeses, juices, sodas, breakfast cereals, 'healthy' bars, ketchups, even in some processed meats. It is very conducive to weight gain and, in addition, is simply unhealthy. Glucose-fructose syrup is so dangerous because its consumption does not stimulate the production of leptin, which is what makes it the body feels full. In other words, when consuming syrup it is difficult to eat, because ghrelin, the so-called hunger hormone, is still at high levels. So products containing this ingredient kill hunger only for a while, and even when it's a high-calorie dish, very soon after eating it you want to eat again.
Milk chocolate
Chocolate is hard to give up, although it is an extremely caloric pleasure. However, it is bad not only because of the high number of calories, but also because it has harmful ingredients. Milk chocolate almost always has the aforementioned glucose-fructose syrup and hydrogenated vegetable oil, usually palm oil.
And such oil is a silent killer - its hardening occurs at very high temperatures, so that good fats turn into trans fats, extremely harmful, with carcinogenic properties. A new popular supplement to fight excessive pounds are innovative Weicode drops.
Wheat
Wheat bread is considered the tastiest, but unfortunately, it is also the most caloric. Crispy white buns effectively interfere with achieving a slim figure, so the consumption of wheat should be absolutely limited and used only in small amounts. Nothing will also happen if wheat is completely excluded from your menu, at least for the period of the reduction diet.
The disadvantage of wheat is that it contributes to the accumulation of visceral fat, so white bread is most often responsible for the rolls on the abdomen that you can't get rid of for anything, especially when eaten in the company of other harmful products, such as hardened margarine or fatty meats.
Artificial sweeteners
During a weight-loss diet, sugar should be given up, but the sweet taste is so pleasant that it is difficult to exclude it completely. That's why all sorts of artificial sweeteners, which, although they don't have calories, are harmful in other ways, are used in abundance. And they don't help lose weight at all.
This is because it turned out that artificial sweeteners disrupt hormones, so that the body mismanages fat and sends false signals about satiety and hunger. Besides, sweeteners appear to be dietary, so there is a temptation to eat foods with them in larger quantities, so in this way you de facto increase the caloric content of your diet.
Natural sweeteners, such as the recently very popular stevia, can also be dangerous. Stevia itself is indeed not harmful, but in sweeteners with it in the composition quite often there are also other substances, such as starch maltodextrin, which has a very high glycemic index, which means that after its consumption there is a rapid release of insulin, which is not at all conducive to weight loss.
Food dyes
No less dangerous than artificial sweeteners are the following food colourings. They are added en masse to food so that they improve the taste and appearance of food. At the same time, however, such dyes are very harmful. Their use can cause the development of asthma, hives, dermatitis, headaches, depression, concentration disorders, and the development of cancer. Some of these dyes, such as E 104 or E 123, have already been banned in many countries, but in Poland they are still legal and are added to food. In short, the more artificial dyes a product has, the more dangerous it is to health and should not be used in any weight loss diet.
Be careful with food in restaurants
Occasional visits to a restaurant are unlikely to take a dramatic toll on your health, but regular eating at eating establishments can seriously hamper weight loss. Of course, there are restaurants that are very concerned with high quality nutrition and the finished meals are exactly what you would expect from their description on the menu. However, such restaurants are expensive, so most people visit establishments where far less care is taken about the quality of the meals served. One is never quite sure how many calories the dish being eaten really has, what quality of fat was used for frying, whether the vegetables are fresh, and whether the sauce was made from fresh produce and not from a bag. That's why eating only locally can make it difficult to lose weight.
